Praying without Information

Praying without information might seem challenging. But in fact you might know more than you think!

Here is one suggestion.

Prayerguide has a partner identified only by a letter (e.g. "M" on Day  19) We do not know their name, where they are from, what country they are living in, what ministry they are involved in.

We say "How can I pray for an initial – I know nothing about this initial?"

But we do know

  • that M is on her own – if the initials were M & L – we would know they
were a married couple.  And if it was K, L, M & N we would know that this was
likely to be a couple with 2 kids.
  • that they are working cross-culturally.
  • that their location has security concerns.
  • that they a child of God like ourselves.

With these basic facts we have more than enough information to pray. E.g.:

  • Relationships with God, within family, with friends, work colleagues, neighbours, other contacts, family at a distance, within church and with Interserve.
  • Ministry opportunities through home, work, church, relationships, media, etc.
  • Their country of service: government, security situation, persecution issues, church depth and growth, church leaders (support, integrity, wisdom, safety, etc)
  • Personal health and well-being, fears and anxieties, home-making, travel safety, cultural and language adaptation.
  • Kids' friends, teachers, educational and social and spiritual development, health and security.

And/or we can just hold that person before God and commit them into the hands of the One who knows right what they need at the very moment we pray.
