Part of Interserve’s role in
Scotland is to teach and promote mission and help churches
grow in this key area of their life. Interserve has
people, resources and experience available to enrich
your church’s understanding and participation
in world mission. Below are several ways in.
Teaching about Mission
Interserve can help your church
focus on the Biblical significance of God’s mission
to the world. This may involve preaching, or leading
a small group in Bible study and discussion. The Biblical
Basis of mission from Genesis to Revelation and other
missiological issues are important for Christians today.
Interserve can contribute to your church’s exploration
of these.
Adopt a Project
Interserve works in the Arab world
and across Asia. We can help you identify a country
or project for your church to take a special interest
in. We can then help you develop that interest. This
is a great way to begin to get involved in God's adventure
around the world...
Adopt a Partner
We can link Interserve you to an
Interserve Partner, and if you have a particular interest
in a project or country we can link you with a partner
involved there. You can support this partner and be
actively involved with them, perhaps sending a small
group to visit. While the partner is in Scotland on
Home Assignment you can build a deeper relationship
for deeper involvement when they return.
Form a team from your Church
Interserve organizes one or two
teams each year to areas where Interserve works. We
can help you organise a team of church members to visit
a particular country or project. Teams get involved
in practical service, and there is no better way to
get your church excited and involved in world mission.
Such cross-cultural experiences often change people
and churches for ever!
Help reaching people from
other faith backgrounds
Are there people from other faith
backgrounds in your area? Building relationships and
sharing the gospel with people of other cultures presents
particular challenges. Interserve partners have experience
of cross-cultural life and ministry. Partners on Home
Assignment may be available to share their experience
to support your church’s involvement in world
mission and mission to those of other faith backgrounds
in Britain.
Send a Partner or On Tracker
Are there people in your church
who are being called by God to go overseas? Long-term
or short-term Interserve can help them and the church
take the next step.
