| The
June trip to Central Asia (CAR) was planned to
coincide with an annual Interserve conference
in CAR. The plan was to run a programme for the
children of Interserve partners. For many of the
partners the annual conference is a time to take
stock and have a break from their work. It also
provides a much-needed holiday for the children.
We were looking after children from 3-14, providing
us with quite some challenge to pull together
an appropriate programme to cater for all age
groups. The team makeup was as diverse as the
children we were looking after but we gelled very
quickly after two preparatory weekends in April
and May to plan the trip.
Not
long before we set off to CAR, Nicholas (the team
leader) told us that we had been asked to teach
English to children from a small village on the
outskirts of the capital. There's nothing like
being thrown in at the deep end! |
